Visit Montserrat Monastery and a boutique castle winery outside Barcelona, with tapas and wine options for a small-group half-day escape.

“The young tour guides are fun, quirky and not too serious. Combining with a wine tour/tapas guarantees you will have a fun impression of your time. Not saying the wine improves the reviews, but only added to a fun and informal tour. Mayi, our guide, was great, fun and knowledgeable. You will find out why Montserrat is so important to Catalan history and even the architecture of Barcelona.”

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 6,290 reviews · 7 to 8 hours (approx.) · from $81

Cogwheel train up to Montserrat monastery, then castle-winery wine tasting with tapas or lunch, all guided from Barcelona.

“The tour of Monserrat was wonderful and lunch at the winery was fine but it would have been better to have more time in Monserrat and less time at the winery. Our tour guide Lesly was very good but the wines offered at the winery tasting were low end wines and not very good. Not much to see or do at the winery. Would not recommend the winery portion of the tour. Also if you go in Jan the funicular was closed for servicing at Montserrat which was disappointing.”

We arrived the same day as our tour, so it was a wonderful way to get acquainted with the city, and immersed in local cuisine. Ferran had the itinerary planned out beautifully, with each of the four stops being prepared to greet us when we arrived - no delays anywhere, always a table reserved for us, and gracious hosts awaiting our arrival. In such a busy city it is hard to find an intimate tour where you feel like you are out with your friends. This tour allowed us to experience that. We would recommend James and the tapas tour to anyone that comes to Madrid! (PS. we left with great recommendations for other evenings out!) Thank you James :)”
